Have you considered renting out a room in your house but don't know how to get started?

Part-time tenants

A Deeltijdkamer is a Win-Win situation to those who have a spare room and to those seeking a local room but not occupant 100% of the time. Typically house owners think of a student, but many expats are in Netherlands for work and use their time-off to go back to their home-country, even working remotely. Expats want accommodation that is reliable, calm, affordable, and not a scam.

We can support you with creation of a room ad, screening and shortlisting potential tenants, and providing resources to succeed in housesharing, both now and in the future.

How does it work

Go to the Contact Form below and enter your details. Start thinking about your preferences and room availability.

We will get in contact with you to arrange an appointment (preferably a video call). Based on the information you provide and some photos, we create an ad on Kamernet or Pararius. We also give you guidelines and agreements to support your successful tenancy.

We communicate with potential tenants and provide you with the overview of suitable tenants. If a tenant(s) is acceptable to you, we exchange contact details to set up a viewing appointment. The final selection will be your choice.

A short story about us

I started Deeltijdkamers because of the accommodation shortage in the Netherlands and rising cost of living since Covid. I am an expat of Dutch heritage, and I understand both the housing challenges of expats as well as the locals challenges. I have had (too much) experience in subletting and sharehousing, and what I can tell you - it isn't easy finding the right match, but - room letting is easier to manage than other rental agreements, and when housemates have a base elsewhere (eg. home country) they are more easy going... from my experience. I would like to have an endeavour that contributes in a small way to bridging the gap between locals and expats.
